Novak Djokovic is currently ranked World No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) was born in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia, on May 22 1987 in a very close-knit family. He began playing at age four and made his pro debut at 16. He was discovered by Yugoslav tennis legend Jelena Genčić at the age of eight, who stated: "This is the greatest talent I have seen since Monica Seles." He attended Niki Pilic Academy in Munich and practiced there for almost two years before returning to Belgrade
